Afternoon- Fortezza Vecchia (Old Fortress)- 2 hours, $15 per person
Fortezza Vecchia dates back to the mid 1500s. The fort was badly damaged in WW2, the townsfolk sheltered here during the war, entering through a tunnel inside the very thick walls. Evening- Fortezza Nuova (New Fortress)- $15 per person
After Fortezza Vecchia (Old Fortress) started to crumble, architects designed a new fortress to protect the city from pirate attacks. |
I chose these activities because they are very important to Italy's and Livorno's culture plus they are big tourist attractions.
